RRB Group D Salary 2022 per month Railway Level 1 Pay Scale

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) advertised for 103769 Posts of Level 1 Staff through RRC CEN 01/2019 advertisement. Earlier RRB CEN 02/2018 was released for 62907 Group D posts. 
Candidates have to clear written exam and physical efficiency test in order to qualify for these posts. Those who are appointed after clearing all stages of recruitment, are to be given following Salary / Pay Scale as given below.

Candidates will have to appear for objective type written exam to be held from February 2022. There is 1/3 negative marking for each wrong answer in Railway exams. So it is quite tough to clear Railway exams. Only those who prepare hard, can have chances of qualifying all stages. 

Those who clear written exam, physical efficiency test and medical examination etc. all stages will be placed in level 1 pay scale of 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix. The initial basic pay in this pay matrix is Rs. 18000/-.

Candidates will also be given various allowances that are calculated on basic pay i.e. dearness allowance, house rent allowance etc. Currently Dearness Allowance rate for central govt employees is 28% of basic pay. Also House Rent Allowance is 27% for Class X city, 18% for Class Y city and 9% for class Z employee.

Rs. 23000-26000 per month


Total salary can be calculated by adding Basic pay and allowances i.e. DA, HRA, TA, CCA etc.
How to Calculate Salary from Pay Scale

Allowance rates:

  • Dearness Allowance (DA): 28% (Applicable from July 2021)
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA): 27% of basic pay for Class X city, 18% of basic pay for Class Y city and 9% of basic pay for class Z cities. The rates of HRA gets revised to 27%, 18% & 9% when DA reaches to 25% and will get further revised to 30%, 20% & 10% when DA reaches 50%.

Job Profile:

Assistant Pointsman:

handling switches or railroad points etc.
Lever control to direct trains to the required tracks & directions, connections of coaches etc..

Porter /Sweeper:

helping railway passengers at stations
handling loading, unloading & distribution of passengers’ luggage, maintaining general cleanliness etc.

Gateman: 

opening and closing gates at level crossing etc.

Helper (Electrical, Mechanical, S & T)

Perform various tasks depending depending on department requirement.

Hospital Attendant:

Work related to medical facilities, indoor job, suitable for women.

Career Growth & Promotions:

Group D Staff will get promoted to Group C level through Departmental exams. After successfully completing 3 years of regular service, candidates can apply for departmental exams. Upon qualifying these exams, they will be eligible for promotion in group C.
