Jind is one of the largest and oldest Cities of Haryana State in India and a centre of Cotton trade. As per Mahabharata, Jind was named Jayantapura after the lord of victory Jayant (Indra), whom Pandavas worshipped before the Mahabharata war and built Jayanti Devi Temple.
The town was built around temple and later renamed to Jind. One of its main tourist destination is Rani Talab. Religious spots includes Pandu-Pindara and Ramrai. It shares boundries with Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Hisar, Fatehabad, Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat districts of Haryana.
Jind district has several Govt & Private Colleges of UG & PG Courses (B.A., B.Com. B.Sc. BBA BCA M.A. M.Sc. M.Com. PG Diploma etc.) for higher education.
